Description

You will head from Cluj to Balvanyos, the spa resort that lies at an altitude of 840–950 m close to the ruins of the 11th century Balvanyos Citadel and it has hydrothermal and volcanic features. The spa has been known for its health properties for centuries but has only been commercially exploited as a spa since 1938.

Right after having a good time in this spot of tranquillity surrounded by the mountains and forests, you will enjoy a traditional lunch and get enough energy for the next spotlight of Transylvania: the crater lake in Romania called Saint Anne.

You will get a hot view from the land of volcanoes, where the setting of the lake really stunning, the water is crystal clear and glistening in the sunshine. This ancient crater lake is a perfect circle of blue, and its forested slopes of beech turn copper and gold in the autumn or extraordinarily green and beautiful in summer. The Saint Anne Lake is a unique view and place in Romania, as it is the only one formed in an old volcano. But you can also get the authentic Transylvanian nature as on the way to the lake there are high chances to encounter squirrels, foxes and it's common to see the wild bears as this is their homeland.

After such a relaxing day, you will drive in the heart of Transylvania: Brașov! The city is surrounded by mountains and is a harmonious mash-up of traditional charm and modern city life. Our guide will show you the towers that used to guard and defend the city, will squeeze down Strada Sforii, the narrowest street in Europe will show you the birthplace of the national anthem of Romania and will make sure you will enjoy a tasty & traditional dinner.

In the 2nd day you will be guided to Sinaia, "€œThe pearl of the Carpathians"€œ, where you will see some of the most beautiful mountains resorts during a short stroll and right in the middle of all the mixed forests and surrounded by spectacular mountains, there are two castles waiting for you: Peleș and Pelișor Castles.

Peleș Castle was built as a summer residence for the kings of Romania in the late 19th century, and it has a 66m high tower, 160 rooms and stunning park surrounding it!

The Castle is still owned by King Michael I of Romania, but it will remain a publicly opened museum. So everyone can see and fall in love with the royal heritage: paintings, collection of defense objects and guns, ivory sculptures, fantastic furniture, oriental rugs and a lot of rooms that are inspired and furnished with elements from all over the world: India, Arabian Peninsula, Persia, Turkey and many more!

After the breathtaking visit to the castle, you will enjoy lunch to gather new energy and courage for what is knows ad the deliciously ominous Dracula’s Castle. - We can't promise you any vampire encounters or howling wolves, but you never know!

The entire tour will be guided, and you will learn everything about the legend and its tales, about the Vlad the Impales and its weird habits, you will go all around the castle, and you will know it inside out.

The last day of your Transylvania trip, after these charming fortresses and castles, will start from Sibiu, the most romantic city in Romania!

The center of Sibiu is still partially enclosed by its original 12th-century medieval walls, and it is the home of Brukenthal Palace, Passage of the Stairs down into lower Sibiu and the Bridge of Lies.

Right after lunch, the next stop is Alba Iulia!

Walking around Alba Iulia Citadel, our guides will immerse you into a place where history goes back 2,000 years to the time when the Roman Empire conquered the Dacian Kingdom!

And you will discover the most exciting stories of this spectacular citadel: its star shape history, the Roman castrum, the medieval fortification and the power of the defense moat surrounding the fortress (which now constitutes a dendrological park thanks to the over 70 species of plants and shrubs growing there), the royal happenings and you will also see the prison cells of our heroic figures, Horea, Cloșca and Crișan who were executed on a breaking wheel for leading a revolt.

Sounds like a lot of action and a chilling, thrilling history?

No worries!

It was about time to stop in a very relaxing place right before the drop-off: Salina Turda - the oldest salt mine in the world and its Subterranean Theme Park where you will 13 floors (more than 80m!) in a Subterranean (but very fancy and well lighted, no worries) salt mine and boat on a lake, have fun in a wheel of gondolas, get a bird-view from a panoramic elevator, go for a ride in the Russian Wheel, play minigolf, table tennis, bowling, billiard or walk around the vast impressive salt mine and its beautiful caverns and little pond.
